Richard Call Terry was born and raised in the Avenues of Salt Lake City, Utah. He studied music and political science graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah in 1977. In 1981 he obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, now Seattle University. He worked as an associate for the Salt Lake Law firm Gustin, Adams, Kasting and Liapis for two years then associated with Corbridge Baird & Christensen in 1984. In 1988 he became a shareholder of the firm.
Richard has represented commercial clients since the early eighties, strongly focusing on banks, credit unions, leasing companies and all types of lending institutions. He has represented them on all financial aspects of their businesses particularly creditor's rights in bankruptcy. In addition to the financial side his expertise has included real property law representing title companies, underwriters and developers. He has always managed a collection practice involving motor vehicles, personal property, repossessions, foreclosures and representation of creditors in bankruptcy. Nonprofit institutions doing federal and state assisted housing as well as homeowners associations, timeshare, and condominiums have also been a part of Mr. Terry's practice.
Richard's knowledge and experience have given him many opportunities to speak on lending issues, bankruptcy rights, secured transaction, collections, real property and title issues as well as state and federal law regulating consumer and commercial financial transactions but the best part of his practice has always been, without a doubt, the clients.
Richard is married to the light of his life, Karen, who, like himself, is a product of the Avenues of Salt Lake City, where they continue to live. They are the parents of five children and 11 grandchildren. Karen and Richard are avid proponents of Utah and its natural beauties. They love hiking and all forms of biking and skiing. Music is also a significant element of their lives where Richard is a violinist and Karen plays the guitar.
